This is the personal website of Hannes Famira.
He is a type designer and educator, he mentors, teaches and assists nonprofits.

 Work
 
Hannes devides his time between teaching and designing type. Two days a week he works as a type designer for House Industries at their cozy studio in Delaware. The design work for the Kombinat-Typefounders happens in his study at home in Brooklyn, NY during long nights and short weekends.

At the moment he teaches at the Cooper Union Typography Ⅱ and Experimental Typography. The classes he teaches at the Continuing Education department are

Hannes Famira is principal of the Kombinat-Typefounders.com, a small typefoundry based in Brooklyn, NY. At the moment the website of the Kombinat-Typefounders is moving to a new server and a dynamic backend and is off-line. The masterplan is to go back live with a bang offering a bunch of fresh, new typefaces and a reworked retail library. Lots of work left to be done there...

Hannes serves on the advisary board and as webmaster for Art in Soial Structures, a non-profit NGO that aims to bring about the understanding that art is a basic building block in forming social structures. AISS and its members believe that the role of art is fundamental to all civil societies.
Its projects include providing university scholarships, funding for small businesses and organizing cultural and educational exchange programs.
